The Girls I've Been by Tess Sharpe

Woah. I'm surprised. I thought the penguinteen is all about cheeky romance. 😅. I give 4.5 ⭐️ for this outstanding storyline with strong characters to support the well-crafted plot. The motivations, fears and conflicts are integral to the progression of this tale.

It is a story about a resilient young girl who finds her way through everything thrown at her. She has lived so many lives with her mother - queen of the grift. She had groomed her daughter in the art of manipulation as a con artist. Until one day, the girl ran away. The indelible connections between her past and dealing with a hostage situation taking place in the present is the book's strength. It's really caught my interest.

A compassionate and wise read, this book follows the journey of broken teenagers searching for a fresh start and a sense of belonging. It also highlights the most troublesome aspects of domestic violence and abuse.

After That Night by Karin Slaughter

This is my first Karin Slaughter novel, can you believe it? The writing style is engaging and the whole story is compelling. The story is a bit dark and contains a graphic description of rape and sexual assault that may cause a stir but this is definitely one of the books that keep you awake at night and remain in your thoughts long after you've read.

Sara Linton was the victim of a brutal attack, drugged, and raped fifteen years ago. Although her attacker was caught and punished, the aftermath of the traumatic experience continues to haunt and disrupt her life. Sara was deeply affected by the assault and death of a young woman who was under her supervision. She pledged to pursue the perpetrator. The eerie resemblance between her story and the other rape victims only strengthened her resolve.

While figuring out the profiling, case linkage, and an old case, they are drawn into the dangerous 'hidden world' most people don't know exists! This is the 11th electrifying thriller featuring GBI investigator Will Trent and medical examiner Sara Linton. 4.3 ⭐️

Mata Baru

KAU NI BETUL-BETUL MENGUJI AKULAH MAN!!
Apa benda ni sia!!!
Gambar senget aku post.
Masalah Blogger k.

Ceritanya hari ni aku ambik cermin mata yang aku buat hari tu. Selepas 4 tahun baru dapat ganti. Cermin mata yang lama ok lagi. Tak pening pun guna. Tapi saja nak tukar. Power bertambah. Biasalah makcik dah tua.

Urut badan di Umall

Servis terbaik. Pekerja pun terbaik.

Cakap pasal urut, fakta di atas memang betul. Sebelum ni aku dah lama tak berurut. Last sekali masa lepas bersalin. Tiga-tiga tak best. Sekadar urut manja bolehlah.

Bila aku cuba berurut dekat umall, skudai setiap kali cuti, perbezaannya memang lain sejak 2-3 tahun lepas. Tulang belikat, dan sewaktu dengannya tak stress (sangat). Pakkal je jauh. Kalau tak memang aku pegi sebulan sekali sebab murah. Tak sampai rm50 satu badan, satu jam. Mana nak cari. Ada makcik kat satu taman ni ada buat servis urut. Rm90. Aku tak tau dia larat ke nak kendurkan urat-urat aku yang dah berselirat ni.

Be Kind, Rewind by Farah Liyana

'Be Kind, Rewind' by Farah Liyana is the first of a trilogy of urban fantasy which is packed with action, adventure, and magic. It contains fresh takes on local folklore and fairy tales. Although there are a considerable number of characters, it is very easy to read. Reading this book can feel like rubbernecking our Malaysian urban legends.
Tuan Sulaiman Seroja is the odd one out of the three siblings from a lawmaker and prestigious family in the Land of Bulan. Her disability (i might say, dyslexia) had possessed negative traits and tarnished the family's reputation of imperial blood.

The disappearance of Anak Permata's test subject prompts her to question why her family has not spoken out about it. Anak Permata is a program that seeks out children or beings with extraordinary abilities, yet there have been accusations of misconduct involving unethical and illegal experimentation.

The invitation from Black Archives has helped her through a nonsensical time travel. Yes, it's crazy, right? Now when I think of it, I realise that there is so much to say about Book 1. I want to hear more stories about Megat Santubong, and other unique creatures in the next installment.
